8 Tips for Weight Loss

8 Tips for Weight Loss

Over 40?  Finding it more and more difficult to lose unwanted weight? Most women find that as they get older, it becomes harder to manage their weight because their metabolism has slowed. Diets that worked in the past become less and less effective. Contrary to most weight loss advice (which seems to treat everyone the same), my take is that women over 40 need to approach weight loss differently. So if you’re over 40 and want to shed a few kilos, here are some healthful and helpful tips: 1. Exercise isn’t enough. 80 % diet and 20% exercise – general rule for weight maintenance. Exercise is a must for your health and wellbeing. But it isn’t enough alone for weight loss.  Regular exercise is good for cardiac health, bone strength, flexibility and agility. It is also great for encouraging healthy eating – but not a justification for eating more! 2. You can’t lose weight as quickly as you did when you were 25. Unrealistic expectations! If you’re 55 years old and trying to lose weight, and expect it to happen at the same rate as when you were 25, you’re asking for trouble. Unrealistic expectations mean that even when you’re […]

Need more energy?

Need more energy?

Do you head for the caffeine or the sugar? Or a bit of each? Here are 7 of my Top Tips to boost your energy in a healthful way. Lack of energy or chronic tiredness is one of the most common complaints that brings people in to see me at my clinic. So I have listed below some things to think about to help your energy levels, without depleting those adrenals even more! 1. LAUGH – Laughter is the best medicine. Your blood pressure will appreciate it and so will the boost in oxygen from a good belly laugh. It is also the best antidote for stress (another energy sponge). 2. SUNLIGHT and FRESH AIR – Artificial lighting and recirculated air is not healthful. Taking some time to breathe in fresh air, in sunlight will lift moods and energise anyone. 3. POWER NAP – Not a long leisurely ‘Nanny Nap’ but listening to your body and resting for a short time (10-30 mins) can help us re-ignite the energy supply. How to detox daily

How to detox daily

7 TOP TIPS – How to Detox Daily without pain and withdrawal Your body is one big detox machine. Every single body system has a detox organ, and when your body is functioning optimally, you will be removing toxins from your body at all times. Your detox organs include your liver, your colon, your lungs, and even your skin. If you feel like enhancing your bodies ability to remove wastes, without taking on a full blown detox, here are some quick tips for ways to help detox your body every day. 1. Drink lukewarm water with lemon juice first thing in the morning. This will cause your gallbladder to spasm, pushing bile through your liver, which will kick start your bowels to release. This is an awesome way to kick start your main internal detox organs, first thing. 2. Have a green drink – green juice and green smoothies will both help to oxygenate your system, flood your cells with nutrients, and nourish your organs. Green juices and smoothies will help your red blood cells work better (by providing them with oxygen, they will more effectively be able to carry nutrients to your cells, and toxins away from them). There is […]
