Massage Therapy

Remedial massage is a deep tissue massage done to create the conditions for the body’s return to normal health after injury or tension.

It is used to treat strains, sprains, or any injury where the skin is intact.

Deep tissue massage removes blockages, damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions left after injury, speeds up recovery and encourages more complete healing.

Remedial massage is also used for conditions created by lifestyle. It is designed to increase the flow of blood and lymph, particularly in the injured areas.

The results are usually immediate; certainly within 3 sessions a big improvement will be seen with a skillful practitioner. Most patients feel a difference after 1 session. A recent injury will react and recover more quickly than a long-term injury.

By working with the client and giving instructions on ‘what to do’ as well as ‘what not to do’ both client and practitioner can work together to gain a better result in less time.  Understanding your body and listening to it empowers you to take back control of your wellness.

Relaxation Massage Therapy

We live in a fast paced world where we are always doing.  A relaxing massage is sometimes what we need to slow, to unwind and take time to breathe.  It is also when we have something done for us – we stop doing and let be, let go.

Also the body mind connection helps regain wellness – getting ‘out of head’ and ‘feeling our bodies’ – making a connection means we can become more conscious of how we are feeling.  Early awareness of tightness for example means you can address it earlier before it becomes a chronic problem.

Lymphatic Drainage

Whether as a part of detoxification or wellness program, lymphatic drainage is of benefit to all of us.  Our immune system is dependent upon our lymphatic system to function optimally, and this specific style of massage increases its function.

The lymphatic system does not have a pump unlike the heart, thus it requires muscular movement to move it and help rid the body of waste, toxins and excess fluids.

Unlike remedial massage, this style is very gentle and rhythmic. It relaxes the nervous system and aids the immune system.
